He is survived by: his significant other Susan Zimmerman; his child Kirsti Abendschein; his grandchildren, Aiden, Avery and Lucas; and his siblings, Tina Abendschein, Eric Abendschein (Sam), Tony Abendschein, Nathan Matyas, Adam Matyas, Matthew Matyas and Stephanie Matyas-Lindsey (Chris).
