He is survived by: his wife Dorine Grates of Filion; his children, Gloria Naser of Midland, Robert Grates, Rhonda Nivison of Harbor Beach, Edard Grates (Linda) of Stuart and Michael Grates (Leslie) of Harbor Beach; and his siblings, Sister Mary (Monroe), Earl Grates of Shelby Township and Raymond Grates of Bad Axe. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
