He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Karri Johnson (John), Gayle McMillan and Sgt Maj Karl D. Simburger (Sherry); his grandchildren, Heather McCain, Kenneth Johnson and Sequoia Eyzaguirre; and his brother Robert Simburger. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org or Michigan Humane Society.
