He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Elwood and Florence Smith (Peebles); his former spouse Minniebelle Elizabeth Henderson; his wife Minnie; and his siblings, Leo, Lelia, Jenevee, Charles, Gordon and Delora.

He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Thomas (Jack Nestle) of Gladwin, Lisa (Kelly Cronk) of Fenton and Rebecca Strahorn of Fenton; his grandchildren, Ron Matthews (Lisa), Mike Matthews (Rob Adams), Stacey Sheahan (Pat), Matthew Cronk (Jamie), Erin Cronk, Robert Cronk (Audriana) and Amanda Strahorn (William Hill); his great grandchildren, Alisa Pritchard (Robert), Patrick Sheahan, Sydney Sheahan, Madison Cronk (AJ) and Bella Cronk; his great great grandchildren, Mavis and Jaylynn Cronk; and his brothers, Jack Smith and Thomas Smith. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
