He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Whaley and Alberta Whaley (Hall); his wife Susan Marie Baird; his siblings, Diane Whaley, Marilyn Battiste and Jim Whaley; and his parents-in-law, Harold and Violet Baird.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Whaley (Melissa) of Flushing, Tracey Hudnut (Jud) of Howell, Angie Schmoekel (Ryan) of Grand Haven and John Whaley, Jr. (Bree) of Holland; his grandchildren, Breonna, Ashleigh Whaley, Logan, Tyler, Nolan Hudnut, Bradley Schmoekel, Emily, Kendall and Spencer Whaley; his sister Lorraine Smith (Randy) of North Carolina; and his siblings-in-law, Les Baird (Deanna), Roy Baird (Susan), Jeff Melanie Baird, Jim Baird (Lynn), Ruth Ann Baird and Laura Hecox (Doug). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
