He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving William and Elsie Starkey Melzer (Dobbins); his wife Greta Joy Johnson; and his brothers, William and Donald Melzer.
He is survived by: his children, Alan F. Melzer (Lynn) of Pinckney and Teresa A. Melzer (John Stewart) of Linden; his grandchildren, Jason Stewart (Angel), Gregory Stewart (Kristen), David Stewart (Bridget), Marnie Stewart, Rachel Loch (Ian), Kyle Melzer and Stacey Kaczmarek (Zach); his great grandchildren, Savannah, Dominic, Caleb, Connor, Piper, Oliver and Palmer; and his siblings, Alice Grondin, Edward Melzer and Miles Melzer (Patricia). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In honor of his memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
