He is survived by: his wife Connie; his daughter Betsy Capelli (Craig); his grandchildren, Katie and Ashley; his daughter Amy Schalk (Todd); his grandson Aidan; his sons, Fred Mehaffie (Ashley Malcolm) and George Mehaffie (Val); and his grandchildren, Nathan and Jocelyn.
He was active in various foundations, including the Park Club Historic Foundation, the Hugh and Constance Mehaffie Foundation, and the George and Amy Monroe Foundation. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
