He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Datema and Luella Datema (Brocieus); and his siblings, Thomas Datema and Dorothy Datema. He is survived by: his wife Zora Lovejoy; his children, Janet Datema, John (Sandi Datema), Joseph Datema (Jonathan Ferrari), Debra Mott Humphrey, Daniel (Melinda Mott), Christine (Michael Cooley), Larry Mott, Lori (Todd Ortiz) and Marcia (Shawn Hubbard); and his siblings, Marie (Terry Peiffer), Joan (Edward Glazer), Mary Satterlee, Bernard (Sharon Datema) and Bertha (Roy Thelen). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Victory Christian Center.
