He was predeceased by: his former wife Judith Jensen Gilchrist (Judy); his parents, Russell L. Gilchrist and Geneva Helen Jefts Gilchrist; his sisters, Marcella Gilchrist Cady, Pauline Luella Gilchrist Montague (Polly) and Plyna Gilchrist Hardwiche (Pug); his uncle Harry B. Marble (Burt); his aunt June H. Marble; and his friend Fritz Kehr (Frederick Thomas).
He is survived by: his wife Gayle Gilchrist; his children, Jan Thomas, Gail Gilchrist, Leslie Gilchrist and Jon Peter Jensen Gilchrist; his stepdaughter Jeri Simpson Braun; his grandchild Dr. Leighton Thomas; his great grandchildren, Graeme Thomas Jones and Emery Thomas Jones; his grandchild Jordan Thomas; his son Henri Rutherford; his grandchildren, Cassiday and Abigail Altierie; his son Cory DiNoia; his grandchildren, Crystal Altieri and CJ DiNoia; his children, Emily Rector and James Braun; his grandson James Braun; his son Derek Braun; his grandchildren, Kylie Griffith, Macilynn Braun, Alexandra Gilchrist and Amber Autumn Faebrooke; his children, Ellie Gilchrist, Izaak Gilchrist and Grant Marquardt; his stepchild Jeana Marquardt; and also Jeri Simpson Braun.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Stephenson - Wyman Funeral Home (165 S Hall St, Farwell, MI 48622). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
