He was predeceased by: his father Everett Schafer. He is survived by: his mother Betty Schafer (Elkins) of Beal City; his wife Lola I. McGahan; and his siblings, Wendy Sue Hovey (Steve) of Beal City, Randy Schafer (Cathy) of Beal City, Cathy Cain (Ed) of Horton and Todd Schafer (Christine) of Beal City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
