He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Bliss and Florence T.. He is survived by: his wife Patricia C. McNulty; his children, Sgt. Brandon Bliss (Liz), Lindsay Bliss, Shaun Bliss and Megan Bliss; his grandchildren, Bentley, Grayson, Gabriella and Stevie Jo; his siblings, Dennis Bliss, James Bliss, Amy Bentley and Billy Margeson; his uncle Mike Bliss (Linda); and his parents-in-law, Pamela Machtel and Michael McNulty (Marcia). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
