He was predeceased by: his brother Eugene Alpern; his parents, Philip Alpern and Blanche Alpern; and his parent-in-law Shirley Sorscher. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Alpern (Sorscher); his children, Bernard "BJ" Alpern (Pyper), Dr. Elizabeth Alpern (Michael Berkwits) and Marc Alpern; and his siblings-in-law, Dr. Irving Sorscher and Phyllis Alpern. He is also survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends.
