She was predeceased by: her parents, James Knight and Catherine Knight (Gossman); her husband John Allen Kay, Jr.; and her children, John Douglas (Catherine), Peter James (Denise) and Barbara Ann Davis (Donald). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
