He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Hempel and Lavelle Hempel; his brother Larry; his son Frederick; his grandchildren, Marcia Geurink (Scott), Carolyn Schellenberg (Matt), Julie Hempel, Stephen Hempel (Monali), Alex, Nicole Hempel, Daniel Geurink (Anna), Melissa Fisk (Mike), Karissa Braden (Mike), Temmon, Tessa Schellenberg, Kavi, Soren and Chaya Shah-Hempel; and his great grandchildren, Clark, Ferris, Conrad Geurink, Matthew, Elizabeth, Emery Fisk, Lyric, Camille, Jiraiya and Amaia Braden.
He is survived by: his wife Luella Hawks; and his daughter Luella. He is also survived by his five children, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
