With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Leo Near of Falmouth, Michigan, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Near and Phyllis Near (Doll); his grandsons, Luke, Robert Near (Theresa) of Roseville and Matthew (Crystal); and his sister Carol Behan.

He is survived by: his wife Jessica Elledge of Falmouth; his son Richard Jr. Near (Sue) of Howell; his grandchildren, Richard III and Rachael; his great grandchild Jessica; his granddaughter Deborah Eagle (Ron) of Brighton; his great grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, John Eagle, Mattilyn and Morgan; his siblings, Alice Schmitter of South Lyon, Geri Near (Farmington Hills) and Robert Near (Karen) of Howell; and also, Matthew and Maddox. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
