He was predeceased by: his father Cecil Gaffney; his wife Helen Marie Post; his children, Thomas, Angela and Amy; his brother Bill Gaffney; and his brother-in-law Ron Higgins.

He is survived by: his mother Illene Gaffney (Struble); his daughter Amanda Nordland (Scott); his grandsons, Bailey and Bryce Nordland; his siblings, Barb Higgins and Mike Gaffney (Leticia); and his sister-in-law Wendy Gaffney. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
