It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Franklin Robert Gates of Essexville, Michigan, born in Flint, Michigan, who passed away on September 4, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin "Ned" Gates and Selma Gates (Larmore); his significant other Cathy; his brother Gary Gates; his brothers-in-law, Robert S. Miller and Roger Cook; and his parents-in-law, Roy and Irene Powell.
He is survived by: his children, Shawna I. Nievierowski (Dennis H. Nievierowski) and Craig R. Gates (Jessica M.); his grandchildren, Trevor Jones, Craig Gates II (CR), Quintin Gates, Gage Kennedy, Isaac Gates, Dennis Nievierowski III (Buddy), Briana Cayton, Tara Nievierowski and June Nievierowski; his siblings, Dennis Gates and Debbie Miller; his parents-in-law, Linda Cook, Dave Powell (Cathy), Jim Powell (Judy) and Dan Powell; and his nieces and nephews, Steve Call, Laura Call, Kevin Call, Tony Gates, Denny Gates, Tina Waters, Robert Miller and Stephanie Dow. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
