He was predeceased by: his brother Brian Franks; and his grandparents, Stanley, Adele Jensen, Adolph and Viola Franks.

He is survived by: his parents, Donald Franks and Maddie Franks (Jensen) of Escanaba; his wife Sarah Lynn Viau; his sons, Storm of Escanaba and Cade of Escanaba; his brother James of Gladstone; his sister-in-law Anne Franks of Illinois; his parents-in-law, Vernon and Nora Viau of Escanaba; and his brother-in-law Mark Viau (Lisa Waters). He is also survived by several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the family and a memorial will be established at a later date.
