He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Sovey and Lillian [LaMarche] Sovey; his son Leon Thomas Sovey; his grandson Zachary Sovey-Koish; his brother Tim Sovey (Linda); and his brothers-in-law, Robert Bullard and Fred Mott.
He is survived by: his children, Timothy Sovey (Kathy), Tammy Karkkainen (Mike) and Tina Sovey-Koish; his siblings, Leroy Sovey, Terry Sovey, Bonnie Kutz (Karl), Connie Ettenhoffer (Alan), Vickie Bullard and Brenda Mott-Brunette (Greg); his grandchildren, Kevin Karkkainen (Ashley), Kelsey Herrild (Nick), Kari Karkkainen, Jacob Koish, Jennifer Taskey (Joey), Jessica Koish and Jarred Sovey; his sister Marland Mosier; and his close friend Claudia Garland. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home (118 S 12th St, Escanaba, MI 49829). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A burial was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Rest Cemetery (6556 US-41, Wells, MI 49894).
