He was predeceased by: his father Donny Ernest; his uncles, Aaron Bergroth, Larry Ernest and Donald Hawkins; his aunt Sharon Heerdegen; and his cousins, David Ernest and Dean Hawkins.
He is survived by: his mother Betty Ernest (Bergroth); his wife Chris Colgin; his children, Hollie Arts (Brad) and Tyler (Teegan); his grandsons, Hayden, Colt Arts and Theo Ernest; and his sisters, Laura and Diane. He is also survived by niece, nephews, and many cousins who were more like siblings.
