He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Simpson and Willetta Simpson (Wilcox). He is survived by: his pets, Dude and Lakota; his children, Debra Smith (Wayne) of Missouri, Scott Simpson (Rachel) of Elsie and Shelly Cease (Joshua) of Williamston; his grandchildren, Jennifer Foster, Joshua Foster, Rachael Foster, Jeanette Gribben, Ella Cease, Abigail Cease, Andrew Wadsworth and Tayetumn Wadsworth; and his brother Jim Simpson (Mary).
