She was predeceased by: her parents, Leander Burkemper and Flora; and her siblings, Doris Kusek and Jim Burkemper. She is survived by: her husband Paul Hartmann; her children, Nathan Hartmann (Jill), Jason Hartmann (Elizabeth), Caleb Hartmann and Leanne Hartmann (Sheraz Sadiq); her grandchildren, Nina, Julian, Everett, Xavier and Flora; and her sisters, Virginia Neiweem (late Don), Rita Meintzer (Paul) and Nancy Garcia (Jesse). She is also survived by her husband of 52 years, her 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

By April of 2023, Covid and Parkinson's put Betty in the hospital, never to return home.
