He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughters, Jan Kiester of Granger, Betty Standiford (Michael) of South Bend and Becky Freimund of Niles, Michigan; his grandchildren, Michelle Karren (John), Jason Kiester (Janie), Mickey Standiford (Kelly), Amanda Johnson (Chris), Jennifer Stein (Tim) and Joseph Dangler (Michella); his siblings, Jeanette Mechling and Clinton Freimund; his wife Vera; and his son-in-law Scott Kiester. He was also cherished by fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
