He was predeceased by: his father Herbert Jr. Cabana; and his nephew Keith Johnson. He is survived by: his son Chad Cabana of Edwardsburg; his sister Cheryl Clark (Robert) of Jones, Michigan; his niece Michelle Meyers of Jones; and his nephew Craig Johnson of Mishawaka. He is also survived by his son; and many extended family members and close friends.

Harlan has selflessly donated his body to further scientific research.
