He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Lau and Irene Lau (Bishop); his siblings, Joyce Lochridge, Dennis Lau and Joseph Lau Jr.; and his brothers-in-law, Fred Belonge and Paul Conway.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Lau Jr. (Melissa) of Edmore, Kenneth Lau (Corinna) of Edmore and Jennifer Lau of Kentwood; his grandchildren, Katelyn Lau, Allison Lau, Autumn Lau, Olivia Lau, Brendan Sellman and Kayla Sellman; his former wife Shirley Lau; his siblings, Mary Langlois (Craig), Pattie Lau Belonge, Kathy Tomsha (George), Michael Lau and Diane Conway; and his brother-in-law Jim Lochridge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
