Reginald Clare Bird Obituary

We are sad to announce that on August 22, 2018 we had to say goodbye to Reginald Clare Bird (Eastport, Michigan), born in Royal Oak, Michigan. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He is survived by: his parents, Reginald Bird and Sarietta Bird; his wife Ann (Pear); his sister Kathleen Williams of Eastport; his former wife Ann of Traverse City; his sons, Adam of Munich, Germany and Nicholas of Eastport; and his grandchildren, Spencer, Matthew and Sophie.

He also helped organize and resurrect the annual Torch Lake Fireman's Field Day event, where he was remembered for chiding volunteers good-naturedly, "We didn't come here to have fun!" Though his latter years were dominated by a painful struggle with Alzheimer's disease, we remember Reg as a high energy, curious, generous, empathetic man with a devilish sense of humor and a love of storytelling.
