He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sherre; his daughters, Jenny (Evan) and Bethany (Jon); his brothers, Larry and Lee; his mother Helen Cecelia Whalon; and his brother Brian. He was also cherished by grandchildren.

The diagnosis for Alzheimer's came just after Mark retired, in 2017.
