He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert A. Alkema and Helen L. Alkema (Babick). He is survived by: his close friend Dena Ellis; his son Robert Justin; his sister Susan Tayor; his niece Ashley Clegg (Eddie); his great-nephew Nokoa; and also, Cameron Freund and Christian Kebler.
