He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Howard Strickland and Alice Strickland (Prowant); his wife Clover Strickland; his children, Aurilee Payne (Lee), Sue Akers (Randy), Gayla Somers (Doug) and Gerald Strickland; his daughter-in-law Geraldine Strickland; his sister Rosemary Carpenter; his son James Strickland; his grandson Michael Payne; and his great grandchild Journey Wilson. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions in Gerald's name are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church in Gaines.
