He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore H. Hoekstra and Jessie Hoekstra (Boomsma); and his brothers, Calvin Hoekstra and Dirk Hoekstra (Janet). He is survived by: his children, Ted Hoekstra (Tracy) and Debbie King (Kenneth); his grandchildren, Timothy King, Theodore H. Hoekstra, IV, Michelle Hoekstra, Renee Hoekstra and Alexis Price; and his sister Margaret Hoekstra.
