She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilbur Meiser and Ruth Meiser; her daughters, Cassandra Smith and Valerie Coates; and her former husband John B. Smith.
She is survived by: her daughter Andrea Gattis (David) of Niles; her grandchildren, Madeline Gattis (Jeremie Lawles) of South Bend, Christopher Coates of Cassopolis, Adam Carlisle (Lindsey) of Cassopolis, Timothy Coates (Victoria) of Little Elm and Collin Carlisle (Tiffany Glover) of Cassopolis; her great grandchildren, Emma Carlisle, Addilyn Carlisle, Averi Carlisle and Maeve Coates; her siblings, Carolyn Withers (Arden) of Dowagiac and Philip Meiser (Betty) of Dowagiac; her son-in-law Jeffrey Coates of Cassopolis; and her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Gilliam (Leon) of Edwardsburg, Patty Baker (Mark) of Niles, Jeff Withers (Lisa) of Edwardsburg and Tom Meiser (Renee) of Dowagiac.
