He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Checkley and Bernice Checkley (Gordon); and his siblings, Bill Checkley, John Checkley, Bonnie Carpenter and Margie Checkley.
He is survived by: his wife Cindy Checkley; his daughter Tristan; his son-in-law Joel Preston; his grandchildren, Alainna and Mayson Preston; and his siblings, Loretta Freshour, Sally Beckwith (Jim), Gary Checkley (Cindy), Nancy Ruminer, Tom Checkley and Diann Lewandowski. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
