With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shannon Maria Kilpela of Dollar Bay, Michigan, born in Laurium, Michigan, who passed away on February 14, 2025 at the age of 61. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Sturos and Maria Sturos (Storm). She is survived by: her husband Daniel Kilpela of Dollar Bay, MI.; her children, Miranda Heinonen (Carl), Megan Daavettila (Brad), Mark Koivisto, Karl Koivisto (Brita) of St and Tyler Koivisto (Jane) of Buffalo, MN.; and her stepchildren, Jessica Edwards (Luke), Travis Kilpela (Rea), Maria Palosaari (TJ) and Gina Kunkel (Kevin) of Chassell, MI.. She is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church (19741 W Sharon Ave, Houghton, MI 49931). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
