With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John D. Shields of Dewitt, Michigan, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on September 17, 2023 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John D. Shields to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Shields and Juanita Shields (Rogers); and his siblings, Geraldine Manor and Edward Shields. He is survived by: his children, Daniel Shields (Marie), Mary Shields, Patrick Shields and Kathleen Chrupcala; his grandchildren, Jordan (Jeff), Rachel, Randa (Tommy), Danielle, Devin, Eric (Makayla), Thadeus and Sophie; and his great grandchildren, Matthew and Charlie.

He once shared that st 11 o’clock pm he sat on his couch and said his night prayers and then went to bed. I found it amazing that he was awake still at 11 and then the next morning he was up and out the door for early mass. May his soul rest in peace. Theresa McDowell”
