He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Perez and Juanita Banda of Perez; and his siblings, Sabino Sergio Perez (Matiana), Efrain Perez (Virginia), Luis Perez and Miguel Angel Benavides.
He is survived by: his wife Maria De Los Angeles; his children, Alicia Ramon, Lorenzo Hinojosa (Tina), Ramon Perez, Lorena Barrios (Robert), Luis Perez (April), Eduviges Hinojosa, Alejandro Garcia (Cristina) and Viviana Garcia (Erik); his siblings, Cesar Perez (Bernadette), Guadalupe Robles, Maria and Socorro Garza (Tacho); his in-laws, Juan Jose Benavides (Delia), Matiana Perez (late Sabino Sergio), Martha Delgado (Louis), Lucrecia Molina (Juan Antonio) and Maria Concepcion Benavides (Richard); and his cousin Carmen Diaz (Goyo). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Viewing was held on Tuesday, September 24th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Verheyden, Inc. (16300 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230). The lying in state was held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Anne Catholic Church (1000 St Anne St, Detroit, MI 48216). A Mass was held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
He was very proud of his union affiliation and his contribution to rebuilding Detroit, especially his labor of love, Henry Ford Hospital, where he earned the respect and admiration of his union brothers, friends, and family alike.
