He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Gilbert and Nora Gilbert; his wife Patricia Kunich of Toledo, Ohio.; and his siblings, Thomas Gilbert, Celina Poch (Gilbert), Ann Elaine Gilbert, Donald David Gilbert and John Daniel Gilbert.
He is survived by: his children, Claudia Landberg (Roy), Edward Gilbert III (Deborah) and Charlotte Shea (John); his grandchildren, Meredith Wolfe (James), Chelsea Gilbert, Andrew Landberg and Ryan Shea; his great grandchildren, Greyson and Carter Wolfe; and his brother Frank Gilbert (Theresa).
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Molnar Funeral Homes - Brownstown Chapel (23700 West Rd, Brownstown Charter Twp, MI 48183). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. The lying in state was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (2565 3rd St, Trenton, MI 48183). A Mass was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
