With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Annie Gartrell (Detroit, Michigan), who passed away on September 24, 2024 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid adieu to Annie's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Annie has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Governor Dart and Annie Lee Smith; her husband Donald West; and her cousin Martha. She is survived by: her son Ricardo West (Liway West); her grandchildren, Yssa Marie and Yuusaku West (Racquel West); and her niece Dorothy Weeks.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and at 12:30 PM at the Swanson Funeral Home (14751 W McNichols Rd, Detroit, MI 48235).
