He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Riser and Osie Riser (Marshall); and his siblings, Theresa Risner, Rachel Elkins, Eleanor Bacon, Darlene Hatfield, Venus Marshall, Edizene Heffner and Roger Risner.

He is survived by: his children, Johnny Risner and Julie Risner of Ruby Risner; and his sisters, Garnet Blauvelt, Josephine Conley, Dorothy McEntyre, Jane Elkins and Lorena Sizemore. He is also survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
