He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Micha Nieves; his parents, Serafin Sr. Nieves and Sarah Nieves; and his siblings, Sarita "Cookie" Pero, Amparo Nieves, Manuel Nieves and Lena Gostiovich.
He is survived by: his children, Russ Nieves (Molly), Laura Kennedy, Jeff Nieves (Denise), Karen Nieves, Thomas Curry (Nancy) and Cynthia Vinson (James); his grandchildren, Jessie, Max, Cristina, Anthony Nieves, Tara Balthazor, Micha Browning (Anthony), John Curry, Derek Vinson (Ashley) and Emily Vinson; and his brother Tony Nieves. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Memorials to Barry County Animal Shelter will be appreciated.
