He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay C. and Winnifred Frie (Rockwell); and his son Dale Frie. He is survived by: his children, Eric Frie (Kathy) and Nathan Frie (Kollene); his daughter-in-law Cindy Frie; and his siblings, Thomas George Frie and Nancy Dunham. He is also survived by grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
