He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Scherret and Agnes Scherret (Zick); his son Otto; and his brothers, Wilbert, Willit, Elmer and Edwin.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah Lumel (Mike) of Lincoln Park, William Scherret of Port Hope, Ron Scherret (Lynda) of Port Hope, Kathryn Cove of Bad Axe and Frederick W. Scherret IV; his grandsons, Phillip Scherret (Melanie) and Nicholas Scherret (Kenna); and his great grandchildren, Colson and Tessa.
