He was predeceased by: his parents, William Kitchin and Esther Kitchin (Snyder); his daughter Cheryl Canion; and his siblings, Roy Kitchin, Ruth Usery and Phyllis Spencer.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann; his children, Patrick Horner of Onaway and Misty Homer (Dave) of Gladstone; his grandchildren, Elise, Aiden and Zachariah; and his great grandchildren, Cameron, Valerie and Brystol.

Memorials, in honor of Irvin, may be given to the American Cancer Society.
