He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Wilbur, Sr. Mathews and Neta Mathews (Cubitt); his children, Sherri Jean Kuiper (Daniel Holmes), Scott David Mathews, Mark Dean Mathews and Catherine Mathews Graf (Michael Graf); his brothers, Robert Mathews (Nona) and Wally Mathews (Darrelyn); and his close friend Linda Blodgett. He was also cherished by his eight grandchildren, and his five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the West Michigan Cancer Center & Institute for Blood Disorders.
