With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jane Ellen Opra of Decatur, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 8, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Judy Elam (Hollenbeck) and John Elam; her brother Joe; and her niece Holly. She is survived by: her husband Steve Opra of Kalamazoo; her children, Marilla Widerquist (Thomas) and Daniel Opra (Heather Stolpe); and her siblings, Jill Hemenway (Todd), Julie Babcock (Andy), Ryan Conway, Amy Foster (Dan) and John Elam. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, and many, many good friends.

Jane wanted a joke that there is no "in lieu of flowers" because if you knew anything about her, you'd know that flowers are appreciated. For those not of a floral inclination, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan (https://humanesocietyswm.org).
