He was predeceased by: his former wife Florence Houtman; his son Burton "Jim" Houtman; and his siblings, Harriet Robinson, Wes Houtman and Marlene Pendowski.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Houtman (Long); his daughters, Deborah Stull (Ken) and Suzanne Soave (John); his grandchildren, Jill Checkley (Craig), Kevin Stull, Kyle Stull (Katie), Eric Stull, Ryan Soave (Stephanie) and Joe Soave (Azzy); his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Pena (Steven), Zachary Checkley (Rebecca), Jared Checkley, Andrew Stull, Wyatt Stull, Ella Stull, Jack Soave and Lola Soave; his great great grandchildren, Chase Pena, Hudson Pena and John Checkley; his brother Roger Houtman; and his stepchildren, Tim Burkitt (Joanne), Bruce Burkitt (Lori), Tom Burkitt (Linda), Kelly Burkitt (Leslie) and Jan Wilson (Randy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
