She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence White and Grace White (Larsen); her husband John Matheson; her brother Gordon White; and her son-in-law Cliff Hoffmeyer.
She is survived by: her children, Bonnie Hoffmeyer, Joy Wallace (Tom), Sandra Matheson, David Matheson and Randy Matheson (Pattie); her grandchildren, Chris Matheson (Miranda), Tommy Wallace (Shelly), Kevin Wallace (Jennifer), Jennifer Berlanga (Gabriel), April Forcier (Herb), Jill Johnson (Josh), Tammy Lindsey, Justin Matheson, Kristen Hendrickson and Chyanne Matheson; and her niece Carol Bush. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Irene's memory.
