He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank C. and Barbara M. Reed (Ponsock); and his brother Frank. He is survived by: his wife Sheri Berndt (Pleiness); his children, Amy Jones (Marvin) of Thompsonville, Walter Reed Jr. (Michelle) of Spring Lake, Lisa Reed of Traverse City, Steven Reed of Thompsonville, Julie Knudsen (Kent) of Ludington, Gary Berndt of Custer and Peter Berndt of Scottsdale, AZ.; his siblings, Joe Reed of Grant, David Reed (Linda) of Traverse City and Barb Schneider (Larry) of San Antonio, TX; his father-in-law Harlan Pleiness of Custer; and his brothers-in-law, Barry Pleiness (Kathy) of Scottville and Dale Pleiness (Julie) of Ludington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
