He was predeceased by: his parent Edward Schlereth; and his grandson Jacob Schlereth. He is survived by: his parent Ida Schlereth (Schulte); his wife Shirley of Curtis; his sons, Mark (Kyle) of Traverse City and Craig (Lori Lobdell) of Rose City; his grandson Max of Ionia; his stepgrandsons, Luke Kitchen of Cass City and Jacob Kitchen of Bay City; his great grandchild Caleb of Auburn, AL; and his sister Sally Bach (Carl) of Grand Blanc.
