He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Zerka and Liah Zerka (Rassey); his former wife Georgine Stewart; and his siblings, John Zerka and Louise Shaheen.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Buckingham; his children, Stephen Zerka (Cynthia), Linda Thompson (Randy), Scott Zerka (Trace) and Lori Gardner (Daniel); his sister Alma Albert; and his stepchildren, Dana Eismeier (Nancy) and Laurie McMann (Curtis). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
