He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Johnston and Edith Johnston (Petersen); and his sister Ellen Hyer. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Rieger; his children, Marlon Thompson (Jackie) of Green River, WY, Valerie Sartori of Crystal Falls, MI and Craig Johnston (Chrissie) of Amasa, MI; his sister Janice Marsh (George) of Onaway, MI; and his grandchildren, Marlon Lee Thompson (Brooke), Megan Haggit (Chris), Shelby Vernon (Trevor) and Melissa Hermanson. He is also survived by his son and many other family members and friends.
Per Bud's wishes, there will be no services, and memorial donations in Bud's name may be made to any chosen charity.
